Long term reliability & maintenance costs for 02 or 03

Hi everyone,
I am currently considering a 2002 or 2003 Volvo S60, probably a 2.4T, but maybe a T5 or just base model (haven't decided what type of performance, insurance costs, etc I want to go for yet). It would not only be my first real car purchase, but my first big purchase of any kind... I'm already extremely thorough in researching any big buys, so this type is something I am really weary about.
So can anyone give me some insight on the long term reliability of the S60? Will it quit on me at 100,000 miles, or at least start racking up repair costs? Also, are repair costs for these cars relatively high compared to 'normal' Japanese or American made cars (for instance, I have a 1992 Accord right now... would a similar repair be a lot cheaper on the Volvo than the Honda)?
Thanks, I'm new to the car buying so want to make sure I make the right choice.
