Lifelong Volvo owner (with a few gaps) considering a used s60. No rush. Just starting my research. Local dealer had crazy prices.
Been driving an s70 for 11 years. Good car except for overpriced repairs in the Boston area. A real tank. I love the feel of the s60 but don't want to buy a car that will need a bunch of repairs. Likely looking for something with 30-40k miles.
Thanks for any input or thoughts. I see the timing belt issue and there have been some posts about dashboard lights. Hard to find a thread with an overall review of the car by owners, though, unless I've just missed it. I now have a wonderful local mechanic!

 

Get a CPO and you won't have to worry about repairs for a number of years.

 

We like that our 2001 S60 looks great, as we get many compliments on it, more than even our C230. But, it kind of stops there, lol. For us, it appears we got a lemon. It was a great deal at the time, picked it up for $3500, with only 76,000 miles on it.

Soon after the back doors quit locking automatically, the right turn signal constantly goes out, the brake lights quit working for a spell, the idle started surging really bad and still does, but the biggest pain is the "Brake Failure, Pull Over ASAP" error we get probably once a week. Recently took it to a mechanic that was confident he could pull some codes and figure out the problem, but he was unsuccessful. Our only other option now is to drive it 2 hours away to another Volvo mechanic with our fingers crossed.

Aside from that, I have high hopes for her, lol.
