low beam connector broken how to replace?
My connector for the low beam is broken and keeps causing the light to go out...its in bad shape and needs to be changed. Dealer said they don't sell just the connector and I would have to buy the wiring harness kit for $71 which includes connector for all three lamps, this sounds a bit extreme!
Can I not just buy the connector/socket?
They said they sell a bulb and socket combo for $22 but it doesnt have any wires...so how would I connect it to the power source?
Any thoughts are appreciated as always.

RE: low beam connector broken how to replace?
I will take a closer look, I thought it was one piece, the clip and the wiring....its the clip thats broken and the metal contacts that send current to the bulb prongs dont stay in place causing the bulb to go out. The wires themselves should be fine.

RE: low beam connector broken how to replace?
I have the same problem on my 02 S60. The plastic connector melted. I just pushed the wires on to the bulb terminals to fix.. This lasted for about 4 months. The back of the bulb then melted, so I had to replace the bulb. This happened to both of my Low beams. Anyone know of a recall for this problem?

RE: low beam connector broken how to replace?
Im not aware of a recall. Are you using factory bulbs? I wonder if aftermarkets cause melting if the connectors were not secure. I spoke to my local dealership and they basically told me try and secure the connectors as best I could since the replacement is very expensive. I've been meaning to look into some sort of product to rebuild the plastic connectors, i.e. contactcement or glue.
Let us know if you find a solution.

RE: low beam connector broken how to replace?
thullz,
Just ran into the same problem on my wife's V70. For right now I replaced the connector with a couple of spade connectors, I labeled them so that I know which gets plugged where. It seems to be working fine for now, but I too would like to replace the connector, it's just really tough to get my big hands in that little work space!!
