Unhappy Low Power from take off

Need help, I have a 01 S60T with 80k. I think that the turbo is not putting out the boost it should at take offs. What can I do to ck. and see if the turbo is working right and do this year have a problem with the waste gate not opening like it should. Can the waste gate rod be adjusted, if so how.

DO not adjust the rod!
Get a boost guage and connect it to the motor and see what the boost is.

You connect it to a vacuum port on the intake manifold. When you start it up the guage should read between -15 to -25 on the vacuum side.
Then when you drive the boost should be around 7 PSI or so.

I put a guage on the engine, the vacuum side was -19 and the boost would go to 7 PSI but at WOT. At what rpm the boost should come in at on take offs. I think I should not have to put my foot down to make the boost come in, the boost come in at 3200-3500 rpm but at normal take offs it is around 1 PSI. If the turbo control valve is failing will it do this?

You will have lower boost levels when you lightly hit the gas. The computer controls it to be like that.

Call ipd and talk to a tech, he told me that the heavy duty turbo control valve will not help the low boost levels. He recommend that I adjust the waste gate rod, I'am going to do that today.

uhmm, so was the car always a pig off the line? Or did it develop this fun way of running? Don't quote me but turning the actuator rod 1 turn is equal to raising or lowering the boost .28 psi. I wouldn't do that though. Since these cars are kinda finicky about that and the computer won't know what to do with the extra boost as far as fueling goes. I once built my own mbc for the turbo on the s60, and the car behaved poorly.

I had the car from new and it use to have a good torque steer off the line, but now its like you got to put your foot in it. What do I need to do to get that feeling back.
