Default lower control arm and ball joint replacement

I've been working on my '01 S60. Removed and replaced drivers side lower control arm and ball joint with no issues. Raised passenger side, removed caliper, ABS, and tie rod nut. When tie rod is disengaged, the hub wants to swing hard right or left, but will not just hang loosely like the drivers side hub did. seems like the strut is pushing out hard causing the hub to turn. Has anyone seen this situation before, and know of a solution? i suspect that i should have raised both sides of the vehicle as the sway bar may be exerting pressure on the strut thru the passenger side end link.Would greatly appreciate any input.

I would put it up on jackstands. One on each side and of the same height.
When the sway bars are torqued the suspension and steering components do weird things.
