Default main brake lights not working**help**

2001 S60 61,000 well maintained miles.
rear main brakes lights not working. 3rd top brake light working. checked bulbs and all fuses.
traced yellow wire to bulb housing and checked continuity between plug and bulb socket and in between both rear light housings in yellow wire--all good. connected volt meter to yellow wire and hit brakes...no power?
there are relays in trunk area by fuses that owners manual doesnt show what they are for. when hitting the brake i hear a click back there but im by myself so i cant determine which one it might be.

the 3rd brake light is working so i assume brake switch on pedal ok.

any ideas?

update:
i had wifey hit brakes to find clicking bosch relay in trunk area drivers side fuse panel. pulled and tested all relays around it. all checked out fine.
reinstalled and put everything back together. now main brake lights working and no more dash "brake light message".
weird. since upper 3rd brake light was working dont know if there is only one brake light relay or if there are two for each seperate system?
maybe i had a stuck relay and corrected it when i did the tests?
i need to get VADIS so i have a wiring diagram and relay location map for this car.
searched forums and TECH indicated that Ebay seems to be the best place to get it.

They are seperate but together. I think it is that way because it goes into fault safety when it happes so you still have one light that works.

I have heard of alot of people that bought the Vadis from E-bay.

thanks Tech.
i bought the VADIS today on Ebay for $15 including shipping.
this should provide me with the relay location and wiring diagrams in case these brake lights fail again.
it would be cool if someone invented a testing tool for bosch relays so i dont have to hold all those wires on my test battery and volt meter!
going to dealer tomorrow for oil/filter service and buying spark plugs so I can start on 60,000 service.

Sounds good. One day I will buy the Vadis program myself so I have everything myself at home.

I have the same problem on my 01 S60, I have bought a relay, but am unable to find a schematic showing the location of the relay for the brakes. Anyone know where to find a schematic?
