Default Major Oil Consumption s60r

Firstly, hello everyone! My name is Matt and this is my first post!

My problem is that my 05 S60R has gone through nearly 2 quarts of oil in the last 2 weeks and I need help in diagnosing the problem.

I have been looking around and underneath the timing belt housing, I discovered there is quite a bit of oil "pooling" on top of the valve cover and tons of oil on the timing belt and down the sides.
Friends who are more mechanically inclined have suggested everything from a cam seal to crank shaft seal to the turbo to bad pistons? What do you guys think?

I don't have the money to pay for outrageous "diagnosing fees" since I'm a college student and DIYer.

Probably a plugged PCV system and blown cam seals. Hopefully you didn't blow out the rear main yet.

LOL, college student with a '05 S60R. Man, you have it rough.

This PCV test works well with the older I5 Volvo's like the 850's and S/V70's. Maybe it'll work for your newer car. The first sign of a clogged PCV system is oil collecting on top of the motor under the plug cover.

A clogged PCV system can cause other motor seals to be pushed out.

Hmmm, so if I had a broken pcv hose, that would've triggered this process? I changed the pcv hose about a month ago cause it was broken clean into 2 pieces. But I never went down and examined the rest of the system, I just installed the new hose.

No, a broken PCV hose won't cause this. That hose breaks all the time. But if the breater box is clogged, pressure builds and seals leak.

Alrighty, I asked cause I watched the video @rspi posted and it says the broken elbow in the hose can cause it. But can you manually "clean out the system" or do you just have to order a new kit and install?
I'm a little mechanically inclined, having done most repairs on my 2000 Pontiac sunfire but I wanted to see if there are other alternatives to just buying new parts if I don't need to

If the video says that, its wrong. It would actually help if there was a leak because pressure can be vented. The elbow he is talking about is not on the newer models.

Hey cool. I'm a college student that just got an S60R too. My PCV is building just under a pound of pressure and it makes my dipstick pop up. As soon as i get my brother's truck out of the carport I'm going to tear it down. The guy I bought it from said he just fixed it, but I doubt he did it right since everything else he said that he did I found it was done wrong. I've also heard that some of the tubing is a bit undersized for higher mileage engines. I plan on replumbing some of it and I'll post what I end up doing. Also a quick thing the check is the PTC. It's the main air drain for the system and enters the intake right before the turbo compressor housing. Sometimes those can get plugged. All it does is heats the air from the PCV system as it goes into the intake. Mine is gone now since I had no room for it after I modified the intake.
