Mass Air Flow Sensor
Need some advice: I took my 2006 S60 for an oil change. They recommended I change my air filter as well. I knew I needed an air filter so I told them to do it. A mile from the oil change place my #checkengine light came on. I took it back and they told me the connection came loose.
Later that night the check engine light came on again. Took it back the next day and they hooked up the computer and said I need to replace the MAF Sensor (estimate was $400). Could they have done something to cause this to break while changing the air filter?
This seems like a HUGE coincidence.

This is a yes & no question. yes they could of cuz the MAF is right on top of the air filter, most of the time u need to disconnect the MAF before u can take the air filter out. No, there is a possible that they did nothing wrong but your MAF was on the way to fail, so as soon as it move it aside the sensor just broke. I would ask them to show u what happen & what determine the MAF need to replace?? ask them to show u the reading.
