Default My car backed up in (D)rive! Then battery died...

Something really awkward happened today.

During a road trip, as my wife and I were about to leave the parking lot of a grocery store, I switched into Drive and the car backed up into my Avalanche, parked behind.

The shock was not too hard and no damage was done.

But the car would not start. The battery was drained, apparently and my wife had to give me a jump start.

At the time, I had the XM radio connected, the car radio on, the GPS and my cellphone charger on, plus both seat warmers.

I suspect it was a bit too much for the battery, but why did the car start anyway and then backed up when I was in Drive?

Or maybe the slight hit in the back did something to the battery, and that is why it would not restart the vehicle, even with all the gadgets off?

Just bizarre.

Once restarted, the car worked fine and has restarted twice with no problem since then.

I will make sure all gadgets are off when restarting, until I take it to Volvo on Monday.

Am I the first to experience this issue?

Well this is strange. Reverse in drive.
Wait and see what tech says.
