Default New to the forum! Question about re-enabling seatbelt warning?

Hey everyone. I'm brand new to the forum - I joined because my girlfriend drives a 2007 S60 and we'll be moving in together soon, which means I'll be taking care of not just my car but hers as well, so I'm looking forward to poking around and learning more about the car from all of you.

Like I said, her car's a 2007 S60 with about 69k miles. She bought it from an independent (non-Volvo dealership) car dealer about 1.5 years ago. When driving it recently, I noticed that when you drive the car without your seatbelt on, the car doesn't beep/buzz/alarm/etc. I'm concerned because I know without that warning, my girlfriend (and other passengers) may not remember to put on their seatbelt every time, which is obviously a bad thing.

On my car (2007 Lexus IS350) and on other cars I've driven, usually when you shift the car into drive and pull off without your seatbelt, after a few seconds or at a certain speed an alarm, warning, or buzzer goes off to remind you to put it on.

I'm sure the 2007 S60 has this feature as well, but currently it's not working. The two options seem to be:

1) The previous owner (about whom and what they did to the car I know nothing) had it disabled

2) Something is malfunctioning/not working correctly
(I presume there's a sensor in the seat/seat belt connector?)

I called a nearby Volvo dealership (we've since moved far away from the dealership she bought it at) and the service adviser said we'd have to bring the car in for them to check it, which would cost a minimum $75 for an hour's diagnostics just to check what the problem is. I'm hoping to save that money by finding the answer on here; if something truly is malfunctioning, then I can put that money toward the fix.

Thank you all in advance, I'd love your help on this as I hate to think of her and her passengers potentially driving around without seatbelts (even though she shouldn't need the warning, but that's a different discussion!).

Has anyone else had this issue? Has anyone else either had the seatbelt warning stop (because of the failure of a part) or had the warning disabled somehow? If so, I'd hugely appreciate it!

Thanks a lot for the response. It sounds like then a dealer should be able to program this as a setting on a 2007 S60? I wonder what they'll try and charge me. This is an obvious safety concern, I hope I can talk them into doing it free of charge.

My '07 S60 does not ring a bell or buzzes if you drive without the seat belt on.

The warning lights up for about 30 sec after you start the car, then silence and I like it that way.
