New Rotors
So my 2003 S60 just turned 30Kmi and the dealer says today I need both break pads & new rotors...cause they only change BOTH...the rotors have a 'lip' on them and need to be changed.
At 22500K mi I asked about changing the pads and they weren't worn and it wasnt' necessary.
Question: is it possible that 8000K miles caused wear on pads so much that there's now a need to replace the rotors as well?
Just sounds fishy to me.
thanks for any advice. The guys around the office here seem to think I'm a woman being 'taken' though I hate to think that.

At 30,000 miles you surely need pads but rotors??? I simply cannot imagine needing them at 30k unless your pads were so worn that they damaged the rotors with the metal backing. I believe that your dealer is taking advantage of you and perhaps you should speak with an independant shop for their opinion.

p.s. Changing to new rotors will improve your brakes and as a matter of fact, I change rotors with my pads but then again I am **** or so I have been told. Once again, it would appear that your dealer is being a tad dishonest.

Tell them you want them to measure them and you want to see them do it. Then see what the measurements are.
If it needs them they will be happy to show you (I THINK) I always was happy to show.
It is possible for them to wear out in 30k

I concur, I have done many a brake jobs with pads AND rotors, Most of the time I do both. Volvo rotors canot be turned, they are too thin.If there is a large lip or they are heavily grooved, I replace them. Look at them urself and see?
