Newbie owner of '04 S60: Door rattle question
Hi all,
I just bought an '04 S60 2.5T FWD with 35,000 miles on it. I've had the car 2 weeks and I really like it so far. One issue that has come up, though, is a very bad rattle coming from the passenger's front door area. It's not the glove box; it instead sounds like it's coming from the window or perhaps inside the door. It's very loud around town when I go over small bumps. I've checked to make sure the door is fully closed, and there's nothing loose in the map pocket. The window goes up and down smoothly with no problems.
It's very distracting and loud, and I would think a car with only 35K miles on it shouldn't be ratting like that. It's rattling more than my Olds with 133K miles on it.
Any thoughts?

Thanks, salhaney, for the affirmation. My dealer, after over a DOZEN attempts to "fix" the rattle (usually involving placing foam packing in the mirror well at the very front of the door), promptly gave up when my '02 S60 went out of warranty. The door rattle continues to this day. Perhaps your crew will have better luck - keep me posted.
