Oil additive; should I?

>Synthetic oil allows for extended change intervals.
No, it does not. I would change at every 3,500-4,000/3-4 months miles with OEM filter.
A quote from Valvoline:
Next, oil changes. The PAO base stock does hold up longer than petroleum-based oils, but the additives in both wear out at the same rate. The oil companies have tested their synthetics for longevity, but they still recommend following the specific owner's manual for oil change intervals.
Additives are already in commercially available products, so additional oil additives are nothing but waste of money.
If your engine is turbocharged, you should use synthetic 10W-30 (5W-30 for frigid region). If not, regular oil would do but stick to name brands. Synthetic oil is recommended for engines that are prone to extreme pressure and temp differences (jet airplanes' engines use synthetic oil as well).
