which oil S-60R
Hi all,
New Volvo owner here. Just got a 2004 S-60R, 61,000 miles on it but it is in excellent shape.
First question, opinions or facts on which type oil to use. Book says use synthetic if you go the full 7500 miles or regular oil if you change it more than that. I will change it every 5000 miles, I will use whatever is best, just want to know.
Second, without knowing what the last guy used, does it matter if I switch oils, as long as I keep using whatever type I decide to use, know what I mean?
Looks like a great site, thanks in advance for any help I get, I appreciate it, I truley love this car!

RE: which oil S-60R
The dealer will use regular oil at the scheduled service intervals (every 7500 miles) unless you specifically ask for synthetic. That being said, I use Mobil 1 synthetic and still change at about 3500 miles. I realize it is a little overkill, but what the hey. And if the last owner did use regular oil, it is fine to switch.

Thanks for the replys. Synthetic it is then. As much as I love this car, I don't mind the extra expense for the extra piece of mind.
I do have a clicking sound when I back up while turning the wheel. I jacked up the car and checked and tightened everything, normal cv sound for 61,000 miles?
Thanks again guys,
Joe B

There was a TNN...if I remember correctly it was something like the spindles or the hub in the front wheel assembly need to be glued. I might not be explaining that right, but basically when backing up and pulling forward, whatever it is that's loose makes a clukning sound.
