Where canI purchaseparking brake shoesbesides at the dealer? I can't find them anywhere. And does anyone know if they are a constant problem or was I just lucky enough to have mine fall apart for no reason and make a awful squewking noise?

They have been known to come apart on several occasions.

I have never found out the true reason for this but it has been suggested that applying the parking brake before the wheels have stopped rotating, on a regular basis, could be a cause.

Having been a cynical type most of my life, I think it is due to shoddy workmanship and cheap materials, for which we pay top money.

Dumb question here... the parking brake is separate from the rear brake? I thought the parking brake just actuated the rear brakes. I need to "break" my habit (of using the e-brake when I don't want my brake lights to come on) if that is the case.

No such thing as a dumb question if you don't know the answer.

The parking/emergency brake is incorporated into the rear wheel discs (rotors). There is a drum in the centre of the disc with the shoes inside. The normal braking is done by pads on the disc.

Hey now,

I have a question about adjusting the parking brake.

How do I do it ? I have had the brakes, rotors andpads, as well as the emergency brake pads replaced but when I apply the hand brake it doesnt seem to hold the car in place.

When I had the Acura Vigor GS brakes done the hand brake, when applied, wouldn't let the car move no matter what but the Anvil (Volvo) will roll even on a slight slope and this isn't supposedto happen.

Can I adjust them to stop this from happening and how do do it ?

I have asked the shop and the asked me why I use the hand brake on an automatic? I told them that I have always used the e-brake out of habit as most of my cars have been standard and I have found that "if you don't use it you lose it" .

Any help is appreciated.
