Default Power Steering Gave Out

So as I was steering into a parking spot my Volvo s60 started to make a weird creaking sounds. I began to slow down but I then herd a loud pop followed by a message on my dash board saying my electronic steering need maintenance. when I got out of my car I found a very hot round object under my rear bumper. If anyone could tell me what is wrong to maybe what this piece is that would be very helpful!

Okay so I couldn't post a picture but I checked out the engine bay since I had more light and I found another black round piece laying at the bottom, I searched the part number it is the tensioner pulley.

Sounds like the tensioner pulley bearing seized and broke so no tension on the PS pump, no power assist. New tensioner, inspect the belt to make sure it's ok and didn't get damaged and you'd be good to go.

You didn't post the year or engine so this is just a guess at what you're looking at needing to replace.
