Product Review: Eurosport Intake for 2.5T
Hi everyone,
After searching a bit I was unable to really find any solid reviews on the eurosport intake, so I decided to write one for everyone.
My Car: 2005 2.5T FWD, Automatic. Bone stock except the Eurosport Intake.
Installation: Straight forward and easy, you need a few basic tools but nothing too fancy. Took me 30 minutes and I'm no mechanic.
Performance: I noticed the turbo spools about 100 rpms sooner, but I did not really feel any power gains.
Sound: Sound is incredible, you hear the blow off valve anytime you let off the gas when crusing. It's not as loud as an aftermarket BOV that is vented to the atmosphere, but it is noticable and you don't have to worry about running rich since the factory BOV vents back into the intake. There is also some turbo whine. Not much on my car, but a light whistle is heard at times. The blow off valve sound is much louder than the turbo whine. The car itself sounds much more like a turbo car than it used to.
Complaints: My car didn't idle funny or have any adverse effects after installation. I have no complaints about the product with the exception of cost ($200) and value. For $200 I would have expected it to come with a K&N Filter but instead it comes out of the box with a Motec (not neccessarily an offbrand, but not topshelf either).
Other Notes: The factory "ram air" buckles nicely into the side of the unit so you retain the factory cold air chute. This is a nice feature. The metal partition also keeps engine heat away from the intake which is also a nice feature.
I would buy this product again, but I feel as though $100-$125 is a more reasonable price for the unit. I would gladly have paid $200 if it came with a K&N brand filter though.
Hope this helps,
Casey
