PTC Cleaning

The information posted here has be very helpful. We purchased a 2002 S60 turbo, "Volvo Certified Pre-owned", at around 50K miles from a Volvo dealer. We had the dealer performed the 60K maintenance. I recently took over maintenance on it, 88K miles, and replaced the fuel filter, air filter, turbo boost control silonod, and two of the vacuum hose. The car is running smooth and turbo works again thanks to all the information in the forum.
So now I'm interested in checking the PTC on the bottom of the air intake, I've read posting that it should be checked and cleaned. I've also read posting that it's a pain to get it back in and that the hose connect to the intake nearby has an inner hose that is plastic and breakable. I've look around the forum and can't seem to find the details about removing it from the S60. From looking at it, it seems you just rotate to release, but I thought I would get some good advice before reaching in there a twisting it out.
First, should I even worry about the cleaning the PTC value?
Second, do I just reach down and twist it out? Anything else I need to know about removing it and cleaning it.
Third, is there anything else I should be doing maintenance on?
Thanks
John
