hello! I am new to this group! My husband has a silver 2003 Volvo s60.. He is in the military and currently deployed so while he is gone I have his car... I have noticed the plastic trim has faded to a light grey with white swirl marks in it and I don't like it. I want to have them either re-painted or replaced (with the factory silver paint to match the body) Is either possible? I don't want to use any of those dye products because I'm hoping to have silver paint. I have heard people say you can have them professionally painted and then I have heard you can't (oil injected into the plastic will cause the paint to eventually peel?) has anyone had luck with repainting or replacing all the plastic parts (doors, bumper, parts under the headlights) thanks in advance

There has been a few guys on swedespeed that have updated the trim on there cars.
You can paint the trim to match the car but the texture us a little off. If the trim is properly preped painted it should be fine. Easiest thing to do is get the updated trim from the '05+ models.

I know you said you want to color match the trim buy if you decide to keep the trim black, instead of using dyes you can use bumper trim paint. You can get it in spray paint cans at -$5 a can. Do it your self and save some dollars.

 

I used Duplicolor trim paint two years ago and I haven't had any peeling. Auto stores have prep wipes which remove any wax and oils for the best results.

As long as the surface is prep'ed properly and it is painted under the right humidity and temperature, I think you will be fine.

I did mine a year ago and it looks brand new just wipe it on and your done till never fade or wash off and its cheap. its way easier than paint cus you don't need to remove the trim or take anything off. I'll see if I can find my before and after photos.

get a can of bondo to smooth out the texture sand and paint with dupli color
