Replacing timing belt, help please
Hi I'm currently replacing the timing belt on my 2001 s60 t5. I just need to find out if there is a mark on the crankshaft pulley that needs to be aligned as well besides the 2 cam marks on the top that is aligned with the 2 marks on the cover? and how does it look? as it was mentioned on the instructions this marks can hardly be seen. I even asked couple people to look at it and see if they can see a mark on it and none of us can find it even after numerous turning of the pulley. And also i tried something out of the books, I took out the timing belt without getting the crankshaft pulley out by taking out the tensioner. How terribly is that move? will i cause any issues doing that? we did that because the home made pulley tool that we made bent on us on the event of trying to loosen up the center nut on the crankshaft pulley. Lastly, I also found out that there's a huge amount of oil build up around the the tensioner all the way down to the crankshaft pulley and pretty much all over on that side of the car. Any common leaking parts around this area? We tried looking at it before we took the belts out and apparently none of em spraying oil.
Thank you very much in advance! I really appreciate it.
