I realize this is a crazy first post. I am in the reassembly stage of replacing the auto transmission on my 2008 s60 2.5t 2wd. For the life of me I can't figure out what bolts on the back of the transmission where the passenger axle goes in. I'm wondering if these bolt holes around the perimeter remain empty on the 2wd version and are used to attach the transfer case on the AWD model. Anybody know?

 

Yes, they are for the angle gear.

The bolt you have in the motor mount bracket is wrong. Looks like the axle bolt.

 

Thanks, yes I just stuck that bolt in as a place.holder because it happened to be within reach. It is good to have a reminder because I could have forgotten to switch it out.
