Default Roter replacement

I have 2006 T5; the dealer that I take it to said I need to replace the roters every time I replace my pads. I am wondering if this is really true. The pads do need to be replaced here soon but the roters look and feel fine.

you can pay any Auto shop around $5-7, each, to get your rotors turned (if you have enough metal left)

I did think about that, and they're not that bad. From what the dealer says, you have to change the roters every time you change your pads and the roters on the S60 can't be turned. Again not sure if this is true or if its just the dealer trying to make a buck.
Thank you for your reply

No, you do not have to replace the rotors unless they are too thin (out of spec) or are warped or have other defects.

i would tend to agree with your dealer- even if the rotors are not under spec, the rotors on our cars are thin to begin with. when you replace brake pads you should always AT LEAST resurface the rotors to avoid vibration and poor pad wear. so even though your rotors may not be under sized, it is in the dealers' and your best interest to replace them. some rotors just cannot be cut, because of the mixture of metals and minium thickness there just isn't enough material to true the surfaces and leave enough to last through another set of pads. how often do you replace just rotors and not pads?
