Hi All
have recerntly bought a second hand s60 2.4 170 hp. The car has done 120 000 KM but had a new motor put in at 110 000.
It idles very steadily and acclerates reasonabley well. However when driving along at a steady speed it seems to miss a beat every now and then. I told the volvo dealer and a mechanic told me that it was the air conditioning cutting in and reducing the power slightly. It does indeed seem to be most noticable when the AC is on
Is this possible that the AC could make such a differnede to the perfomrance that it spoils the driving experiene in hot weather ??
any helpor suggestions would be most appreciated

Hi Rich,
I have a 2001 S60 T5 and also have a misfire. I replaced the Sparks and still have a misfire. I had hp loss and would feel the car misfire at varies speeds. I was able to make the check engine light come and then scanned the system. Read misfire cyl #4. The problem is in the coil, they do go out. They are easy to replace. The coil mounts on top of the spark plug. Dealer confirmed that the coils burn out often. As for the A/C causing such a problem, the mechanic needs to stop working on cars! The only load the A/C system puts on the engine is having to spin the belt while the A/C clutch is engaged. The resistance of the A/C clutch is very low.
Change the spark plugs first, make sure you go with a good plug and not just a resistor plug. The operation is easy, max 30min. Any good mechanic should be able to do the job without screwing up.
