Default Which S-60 Year Is Best?

Hello,

I'm a newbie to this forum and am looking for advice. We are looking for a slightly used S-60 to replace an older vehicle. Probably looking for something between an '02 and an '04, under 40,000 miles. Either the base 2.4L or 2.4L Turbo would be the likely model. It's for my wife so she probably wouldn't care so much for the extra power that the turbo gives, but it may be nice.

Any advice as to which year is good vs. which year to aviod? Any new options that were added that were must haves? Thanks for the help!!!

02 or newer. 01's had the ETM problem, but Volvo is replacing them for 10 yrs./200,000 miles now.

All of the S60's up through 2001 models and the non turbo 2002 models had an ETM that was manufactured by Magneti-Marelli. They have been failing but Volvo has now extended the warranty to 10 years or 200K miles. The turbo versions of the 2002 and all of the later versions all have a unit manufactured by Bosch. I talked to my nearest dealer and they can't do anything until it actually messes up. Therefore we are all driving with our fingers crossed that it doesn't go kaput on the Interstate at 75mph.
