Default S60 2017 Support Battery Location?

Where the hell is the support battery?! Manual is worthless. Volvo site is worthless, I guess they're trying to protect us fools from ourselves and against the 48V(?) support battery dangers!

this Volvo page for a late 2017 s60 has location pictures near the middle of the page - It's still a 12v system

Under the cowl at the base of the windshield on the right side. It isn't a 48v system and I have no idea where you got that from. The picture you posted isn't a 2017 S60 either.

Thanks. Indeed, I posted a pic of late model S60, not my vintage. I read somewhere in my searches it was a 48V battery, maybe one of the manuals I thought it was, and whatever that was, carried strong warnings against having anyone other than a shop handle.

The fasteners at the windshield cowling - what's the trick removing those? Tried removing but if I pull/pry any harder fear they'll break.

Thanks!

Did you get any help with instructions on how to replace the battery?

The link to the manual is very useful - but a bit puzzling. It basically says that the main battery can be removed and replaced with no provisions beyond a 5 minute wait for complete shut down/ info storage (I linked back to the 2015.5 V60 confirm that info for my car) I have been told by several sources starting with the dealer that a $200 Vidas procedure is required to reset the battery monitor. The manual is, I presume, a UK/European reference. Is there a difference for U.S. spec cars? Perhaps we are uniquely subject to this particular extortion.
