Default S60 Burning Oil! Advice Please!

Hi all-

I have an S60 (not Turbo) with about 185,000 miles. The last two years or so I've noticed it's been a little low on oil in between changes (from having to top it off to having to add at least half a quart.

Now it's gotten to the point where I'm adding a quart about every 1,000 miles. Went to the dealer and they say it's burning oil, (no leaks they say) and that this is a problem with this model/year. They're saying it's something with the piston seals (? or rings maybe?) The job will cost more than the car is worth...

The dealer suggested I could try a Lukas oil treatment (which you just add with the oil change) to help the problem whereas another mechanic I'd been to earlier this year suggested something called BG Compression Repair which apparently you pour in, idle the car a bit, and then drain.

I'm looking for any input - has anyone had this problem with their S60? Any other thoughts on the possible cause? Any experience with these oil treatments?

Any and all thoughts greatly appreciated!!

Thank you!

Edited to say I checked into it and looks like they're using a synthetic blend at the dealer-
