Default S60 Fuel pump question

hey guys, 1st post brand new here, I own a 2006 S60 2.5T AWD. was wondering what the difference is between a plastic fuel tank pump assm. and a steel tank pump? thanks fer any help, Scout

Primarily, steel rusts out at the seam if you keep fuel levels below seam (usually 1/2 tank). You'll also get miniscule pieces of rust in your fuel from condensation rusting the inside of the tank where the fuel doesn't touch often. Plastic is safer in a collision for the most part... and has no metal to corrode. Easier to clean if junk in it. Plastic is also lighter. I'm partial to plastic.
