Default S60 immobilizer 2005

So I was looking on Facebook market place and I found a nice s60 2007 which I used to own a 2002. This car doesn't look bad at all only has 100k on it, but the owner has informed me that it needs a new key and reprogrammed. I have been researching online if it would actually need a new key or if it needs a new Key ring so it would recognize the key again. I just wanted some other opinions if you think this would be a good purchase or if I should pass it up. I am going tomorrow to go look at it in person and see if there is anything else I can find out about the car. Also I am going to see if I can borrow a computer to read the codes off the car. Thank you !

I'd ask the seller what's going on that it needs a new key (and who made that determination). Curious why they don't just have the work done and make the car driveable. New keys/fobs require programming at a dealer so there's not a DIY option here. I'd be concerned that there's something else going on that's the root cause. Does the car also have a CEL issue? You can read the P codes with a $29 Harbor Freight code reader or borrow one from Autozone but if the key can't turn the car to position 2, you won't enable the OBD2 port.
