Default S60 License Plate Lights

One week after my safety inspection, I got pulled over for not having working license plate lights. Both lights were out.

No message indicator.

I've changed the bulbs with Phillips 2825LL.

Nothing. Nada. Zip.

It appears this is more than burned out bulbs.

Suggestions anyone???

Does the trunk open using the switch in the trunk lid? The handle switch and the plate lights use common power and ground and it appears that the trunk can be opened from the remote, even if the lid switch and lights are disconnected.

FYI, all the doors need to be unlocked for the lid switch to work!

If it opens by the remote, but not manually, check the connector behind the lining on the trunk lid.

If it doesn't open by neither the remote nor the lid switch, look at fuse 31 in the driver side fuse panel. If it looks good check the connectors on the REM.

I hope this is helpful, I got my info from the wiring diagram for a '02.

Unhappy License Plate Lights on 2004 S60

I have a similar problem, though the license plate lights work when I open the trunk lid. I notice that they go out though when the trunk lid is closed about 1/2 way. I looked for a plunger or some kind of switch that might be getting triggered by the trunk hinges and I don't see anything. Does anyone have any thoughts?
