how do I get rid of this message saying service needed? besides taking it into the dealer?</P>

 

Easy, Push and hold the trip reset button before you turn the key on, with the button pressed turn the key to the run position and wait 'till the service light starts to flash, when it does release the button and turn off the key. That is what shuts it off.
