My 2004 S60 AWD automatic transmission has started slipping while shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. It happens very infrequently, for instance it happened only once today in 2 hrs of driving. It acts as though it finds neutral while shifting from 1st to 2nd, with engine revs climbing and then 2nd finaly engages. Has anybody else had a similar problem? Thanks for any info.

 

If you are still under Warranty then take it to the Dealer. There might be a software upgrade for the problem.

 

My 02 S60 (not AWD) was doing the same thing. I took it to the dealer and they did a software upgrade and I haven't had any problems since. I think it was like September of last year so the fix worked.

 

I just got back from the dealer, without my S60!! According to the service folks, based on the codes they got out of my car Volvo has directed them to put a complete new transmission in my car!! I was just 60 miles from being out of warranty, so I was very lucky in that regard. Thanks for your insight. Once I get the full diagnosis from the dealer I will share it with all.
