S60R not starting. Been stood untouched
Hi Guys
hopefully someone can help or point me in right direction.
I have a S60R 2005 owned it 7 years. I haven’t used the car the last 18months so disconnected the battery and it’s just been stood.
looking to either sell it or get it back on the road currently sorn.
so put a bran new battery on it. The car turns over but doesn’t fire up. You can keep turning it over but don’t want to do any damage.
so thinking maybe immobiliser problem have 2 keys checked using both.
when you turn ignition on can hear fuel pump priming.
Topped petrol up as was low. Not sure if way of bleeding.
had issues with alarm service before I left it unused.
I don’t have any diagnostic Vida etc. Prepared to buy something. Problem is the S60R is a bit rare so not a great load of information to help.
To me it’s something simple as the car worked perfectly before I Sorn it.

spark, fuel, compression... Lots of stuff to check up on a sitting car - any rodents chewing in wires? Did you put fuel stabilizer in the tank before storing? So that said you can go back to basics - check for spark (you can buy a test tool for cars with coil packs or pop out a coilpack and drop a plug in it, ground it and see if you set anything . Check for fuel pressure at the rail (Autozone etc will rent a tester)? does the fuel smell ok? Compression? did you crank with no fuel to get oil into the top half the engine and wet the rings? Finally, if you have spark, you can spray in some starting fluid to see if that helps (check for some Youtube vids on how to's for newer cars). If you suspect the immobilizer, you can try a reset by locking/unlocking the doors 5x with the fob or key.
