S60R squeaky noise related to crankcase pressure buildup?
Hi. New Blood here seeking expertise.
2012 S60R
164,000 miles
After engine runs a few minutes it starts making a high pitched squeaky sound. When I pull the dipstick it makes a definite vacuum sucking sound and stops. If I put dipstick back in sound redevelops and so does vacuum.
I’m thinking this is indicative of PCV clogging? Or EGR? Gotta be something with emissions. Car drives fine but thinking this can’t be good for deposit buildup and pollution.
Yes - there is a problem with the PCV system - too much vacuum is in the crankcase - so it makes the squeal as the air leaks past the oil seals. If you have the 6 cylinder engine you may need to replace the oil trap - or the diaphragm in it if you can find it sold by itself.
