[align=left]Hello all .. newbie here with 06- s60 r I was wondering if anyone has seen problems with inside tire wear in all four corners.. I have this problem there is loud hum I think is a bearing at first but iwas gettin worse..Then I feel inside edge of tires and there is cupping or very very heavy feathering so I take to dealer and they tell me there is no problem they see no tire wear hear no noise.. so I call service manger and tell him he needs to take car out himself . he calls back and said the left front bearing is bad ..I told him if that one is bad they are all bad knowing that the bearing is not the problem its the tires . They replaced bearing and call back and tell me this didnt fix the problem.. I then drove to the dealer took the tech out to the car and showed him the tire wear that he and two other techs did not see.. they still have the car but while talking to the service manager he was telling me that this may be normal because of the high perfomance tires and there may be nothing they can do about it. this car only has 5,600 miles on it and it sounds and feels like it is a lifted 4x4 33 inch mud tires on it thanks for any help you may be able to give..

Which tires are on the car?
Volvo had a big problem with alot of the cars espically the C70's
Tires feathered really bad.

If they don't help you make sure you call Volvo Cars of North America. That is if you are in the U.S.

I have seen Volvo buy tires under warranty many of times. They like to do it if they HAVE to before 12,000 miles.

it has factory supplied perellis

Perellis were Volvo's worse Nightmare.
Every car that had them on there always had problems with tires.
If you can push as much as you can to make them install Michellins or another brand of tire.

 

[align=left]well the dealer said they checked the alignment and that was ok ... they will put a new set of tires on it but i think i will be doing this all over n another 5000 miles I tried to get them to put on differnt brand of tires but they said they will not do this. I thought I might conact a local tire shop and ask them if they would make a trade with me if I brought the tires in before they mounted them... but I still think there is a problem with the car

Contact Volvo Cars of North america.

 

if u swap tires with a local shop and the problem reoccurs, will the dealer still honour a new replacement? I would only swap tires if u r certain that's where the issue is.

 

Im thinking you may be right ... but if it did it again that would prove its not the tires

I don't run Pirellis....I run Continental Extremes on my R, great snow performance and great all around performance.

 

My S60 2.5T has Pirelli P6000. I have some ridging on the rear outer treads, 11000 miles and the front ones are down to 3mm no ridging. My problem is with keeping her on the road ina straight line as she tramlines terribly.
