Default spark plug replacement precautions??

I'm replacing the spark plugs on my 03 S60 with 78k miles on it. The very first one I did, it felt REALLY tight to loosen up and I was afraid it was going to crack the plug. Once I got it started, there was still tightness almost the whole way through like when you have metal on metal rubbing (that squeaky sound as you turn it). I stopped after the first one.

I was wondering if there is some precautions with spark plugs being potentially seized on this model/year and if I should replace the plugs with warm engine / warmer weather. It was a cold day (35-50F) on a cold engine. Thanks.

I've done hundreds of them, never had a problem.

I would give the plugs a good shot of penetrating oil and let them soak so you don't pull the threads out with the plug. Install with anti-sieze when changing plugs on an aluminum head engine.

I use a little anti-sieze also, aluminum type. However, you are NOT suppose to. The threads have some kind of coating on them to allow them to go in and torque properly.

Proceed, pull them out. You can heat the motor up if you want.
