Default Sparkplug Gap Spec

I bought replacement sparkplugs from FCP Euro (product ID 231143) for my 2012 s60 T5. These are genuine Volvo branded plugs. As far as I read, the gap is supposed to be . 027in (.7mm). However all the plugs from the packaging were a bit less than .04in. The old plugs I took out were also roughly .04in but I assumed that could just be since they're the original factory plugs with 90k miles. Does anyone know if the .027in spec is correct or have experience with the Volvo original sparkplugs sold by FCP? I assumed these were pre gapped as stated on their site. I couldn't find the spec in the owner's manual but did find it from an auto repair guide subscription provided by my local library from ebsco.com.

Thanks.

easy way is to call FCP and ask for the correct gap, but I've seen .027 published in a number of places. Are the new plugs single electrode? Not sure if the triple electrode design uses the same gap or not. Also, as a word of caution, if you go with iridium plugs, the electrodes are more brittle and an attempt to regap may break the plug... For what its worth, I've always checked the gaps for new plugs to make sure they are on spec.

I submitted the question to fcp so let's see what the say. The plugs are single electrode. As for the material, I'm not sure if they're iridium. The packaging doesn't have any details.

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vol...lug-denso-4704 suggests that the 2012 S60 with the B5254T5 engine uses Volvo #31312691 and are gapped to .035. That sounds like what your package should show.

Thanks for pointing that out. The new plugs did seem close to .035 and less than .04. I'll recheck tomorrow to be sure.

The gap was close to .035. I put in the new plugs and test drove the car. No issues yet.
Thanks all for their input.
