Squeaking camshaft bearing?
Hi Everyone, I have a 2002 S60 114000. Timing belt was changed at 98000.When I drive the car till it warms up it runs fine. after that i get an intermittent noise from the camshaft. The noise seems to come from the camshaft pulley closest to the front of the car. I can open the timing belt cover and it sounds like a groaning noise then it goes away and comes back. It seems to radiate across the top and front of the motor. I changed the serpentine belt and tensioner. that didn't help. The noise happens when the AC is on and the car is in drive or reverse. What is it? Should I be worried? How can I fix it? Any help is appreciated.
Hopefully the idler and tensioner were changed when the timing belt was replaced.
Since you changed the acc belt tensioner, the noise is probably coming from the AC clutch pulley bearing.
Get a suitable length of hose and stick one end in your ear and stick the other end down amongst the spinning bits and listen for the odd sound. You'll home in on it shortly.
