Thumbs up Stock turbo questions please help thanks!

Hey y'all I drive a 2007 Volvo s60 2.5T fwd not the t5 not the r just base s60 I guess... So anyway to the point I just started upgrading my car and this week or next whenever I get answers I'll be installing a bypass valve an a manual boost controller and a turbo gauge .... Here is where my novice experience comes in I'm not sure what is a SAFE psi for the STOCK turbo and stock internals please help I have read 15 however not sure and don't want to mess up my baby! Thanks everyone for hopefully helping me out. Oh I forgot to mention I will be adding a cat back ex and a cold air plus new turbo piping.

Well install the boody gauge before you do anything involving changes to the pressure. Then start with 1-2 Psi over stock. If you want the car to last don't push any limits, blowing a turbo isn't fun.

Well I mean 1-2 honestly isn't worth the money I spent on the mbc from what I read stock is 7 psi and I've been told and read any stock turbo and internals should safely handle 12 -15 Thanks for the advice and I bought the gauge today I will put it in before changing

Well just cranking the boost up isn't the answer because then you will probably throw a code for running lean. if you are pushing that much more boost you need a tune to increase your injectors. And if you are getting a tune to increase your injectors, then it could also raise your boost.

From what I remember reading the ME7 cars (ie.. Your S60) don't work well with boost controllers. Do some more research before you install the MBC.

I'd recommend proper tuning vs. MBC/EBC. Hold off for a bit and get an ARD tune once the ME7 tunes are ready.

What about bypass valve I have a turbo xs bypass valve I want to put on do I need to get a blocker for the cbv or does that stay like it is and the bypass valve hooks up somewhere else?

first, turbo Volvos already have an internal bypass valve so adding another is redundant.

also peak psi on the R's is around 15psi with a stable pressure of 12
since they are in the most part identical engines you should be able to run 15 all day and push 20 with minor risk

but it's going to kill your car very quickly and the other problem is, one does not simply increase the pressure...Volvos really don't like that and they also don't like speed chips. your best bet in reality is to sell it and buy an R

I wasn't planning on installing it along with the stock compressor bypass valve I would block that off and mount the new bypass Which does the same bit better

The ONLY way to increase the S60 in any way is with an ECU TUNE. There is nothing else that does anything but maybe help with air flow and or temperature (intake, FMIC, 3"downpipe, Catback exhaust) Any of these things do ZERO to get more power out of the S60 with out a proper tune to take advantage of the added air flow temp drop.. There is no way to increase boost or add HP or Torque in these car with out the use of one of the below companys.. These P2 ME7 Volvos are set up different than older models.
