Stuck Transmission dipstick

After a closer look, I found that the transmission dipstick is actually broken off and wedged inside the dipstick tube, and what I was trying to pull off was a small piece of rubber tubing clamped to the dipstick tube with a plastic plug in the top end to keep dirt out. Ingenious solution some mechanic came up with to solve the broken dipstick problem, but what are the chances the remaining piece of dipstick will eventually fall into the transmission and ruin it? I can't imagine it can be effectively drilled out either without bits and pieces falling in. Any thoughts?
