Default Sylvania White bulbs

I never liked the look of the HID headlights with standard halogen bulbs in the fog lights...so I purchased a set of Sylvania White Bulbs. What a waste of money.[:@] I'll try to post pics, but they look just like OEM (yellowish light). Any suggestions on this? I think I'm goint to return them. Anyone else see simillar results?

Eek... I saw your post title and rushed on to tell you not to buy them... but am clearly too late. The silverstars are quite a bit brighter in terms of light output than a regular halogen... but the sure don't look any better.

If you can, buy a set of PIAA plasma blues... they are $$$ though. A cheap alternative is the nokya "arctic whites"

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/9005-...26140750QQrdZ1

Those are a 9005... I have no idea what volvo uses... but I put the Nokya H11 arctic whites in my dad's 2002 audi a4 fog lights... they look great! Match the HID bulb very closely.

I use IPF bulbs... which are on par with Piaa, but again, they were expensive. Match the HID's fairly well in my car, but the IPF's are only 5000K... so they aren't really getting into that "bluish" light, like the 7000K "arctic whites" are.

Spend the 20 bucks and buy a set... I think you'd be pleased. Sorry to hear you wasted your $ though.

THanks for the reply Headshok. I purchase these at my local autozone. I'm not sure of the return policy, but they should take them back. I'll do a search for the other manufaturers you mentioned. PIAA is a long time manufacturer. I might try them. The last time I tried a new name manufacturer of lights, they went out of buisness. So much for the lifetime satisfaction garantee

Depends on what you are looking for, I guess. I don't think they are worth the money though, at all. I'd spend less money, and get those Nokya's... Like I said the nokya's are in my dad's Audi A4, and they look great, and have lots of light output.
Silverstars are okay... but they won't make your car look any better. They are VERY yellow... especially when mounted in foglights below a set of HID's. Like I said above, both me and my dad have audi's with xenon's... I cheaped out and bought silverstars, and hated them... was frustrated with the wasted money. Light output was a bit better, but not worth the $$ I spent. So, I bought the IPF's for like 100 bucks (CAD) and I am thrilled. My dad had been saying for a while that he wanted to get some bluish bulbs like I had... so I sprung for the Nokya's for him. They are a better match for the HID's than my IPF's are, and were significantly cheaper. Light output was good all around.

Seriously though... if all you are after is a bit more light, go blow some cake on a set of silverstars... but if you want your car to actually look better, while at the same time putting out more light... buy the Nokya's for less money, OR spend some money and buy PIAA's.

Then buy an HID kit for the foglights. However do not go over 3000K for the bulb temp.

Is fog that much of a problem where you live that you're running the fogs with your HIDs often enough to care? Get a lot of fog at night time there?
