I guess there's a special tool needed to remove the actual unit from the car, can you get this just anywhere, does anything else work?!? Thanks for all the help, I have a HU-613 unit. Thanks again~!

No special tool needed you need to remove the climate module which has 2 screws at the bottom. Then the bottom of the radio bracket has 2 screws as well.

remove the pen holder, under that there will be two torx screws like tech said, then after removing those you need to pull the climate control out at a downward angle and youshould see a couple more torx screws for the radio. search mathews volvo forum, they have a repair database with this on it, might not be exactly your car but you get the picture.

So I'm diving into it tonight, the instructions that came with the stereo from crutchfield, definately aren't the most clear. it says you'll need: torx 25, phillips screwdriver, and "panel tool". Then looking through the removal process, nowhere does it ever mention the panel tool, so i was just a little confused. Like I said, i'm diving in tonight, hopefully all will go well, thanks for the help...

So mission successful, it was actually really easy, just hooked everything up, spliced the wires, sodered and taped them off, that was last night, woke up this morning, ran outside and hooked it all up to the car. There was one fatality though, When trying to put the last torx bolt in the air conditioning module, it fell, into the smallest little hole into where the gear shifter box is. Good experience though, I am pretty much a beginner when it comes to electrical, and tearing apart the car to do things, so I'm pretty proud of myself! anyways thanks for everyone's advice. Now go VOTE!!
