Default Transmission??

Just recently I bought a 2001 volvo s60 with 65,000 miles. Had a clean carfax report with no mechanical problems. It had three owners, but all seemed to give the car glowing reports. The car shiftsfrom park to drive to reverse very smoothly with no problems, however, when actually out on the road and car isshifting fromfirst to second gear the car delays a second and then lurches foward. I've read the majority of comments made concerning thismatter andalmosteveryone narrows it down to either being a software glitch or needing to replace the transmission valve body. Others have even reccommended flushing out the transmission fluid and starting anew...so what should I do? I don't want to wait and let this problem grows any larger than it already is,especially if I can treat it while in the earlier stages. I admitthat I don't understand to much aboutcars, but if someone thinks theyknowwhat the problem is and what I should do, pleasehelp me out. thankyou.

yeahI have a 2001 s80 t6 and it did that, they did the software upgrade (worked for a while then came back), did the flush (worked for a while, then came back), now the Transmission message came on, they told me that they will reset it and if it comes onagain that I will haveto put a new transmission in lol.

I've also had the problem w/my 01S60 and I've been reading everything I can find on it. I am in the same boat. I'd rather make the repairs now before it could potentially come to transmission replacement.

I don't know much about cars either, I just know I want to take the best care of mine as I can. I am working with a mechanic that I'm hoping turns out to be a cool guy but it never hurts to be armed with information before I decide to make any repairs on MY car.
