Our volvo is a 02 volvo s60 2.4 na automatic. A friend checked the fluid an told my wife it was low so she added a quart of dex merc atf now when put in drive it does not go in to any lower gears takes off in drive not 1st. I researched an found that's obviously wrong fluid. My question is if I change the fluid an filter will it solve this issue? I don't have means to flush the system other than changing it all again I a couple hundred miles. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jessy

 

Normally what makes them start off in 3rd gear is "winter" mode. Make sure that isn't the real issue.
