Default Unable to use cruise control

Hello all,
I was hoping someone could assist with my cruise control issue. I have a 2002 S60 that will no longer allow me to use cruise control. The cruise control light comes on when I press the actual "Cruise" button, but when I try to actually turn it on, my horn just honks. I'm guessing it's honking because I am pushing so hard to try and get the cruise control on. Does anyone have any idea what the issue may be and whether or not this is something I can repair myself. Thank you.

Are they any messages on warning lights on the cluster?
I had the same issue and it turned out to be the ABS module

My 02 s60 cruise control does the same but I get "alarm service required" when I switch on, which then goes off, followed by "Engine service required" once the engine is started so I just presumed it was down to the EMU failing.
Sorry, can't help!!!
