USB playback
wiped and re-formated FAT32 USB stick that had been working fine.
It still does play most, 90% or so of 1700 + songs.
But there is a gap in the "artist" directory and a gap in the "folders" directory.
Songs from either of those gaps don't appear.
I've checked tags in MP3tag for Windows 7; even though I'm OSX, with VirtualBox.
All songs play fine under OSX or Windows 7 direct from the USB stick.
Perhaps a number of folder limitation?
any ideas?

apparently the OS was "updated" on my last service.
the time element for the OS to read the drive directory is longer, significantly.
I have a half full 32G high speed USB thumb with about 1800 songs; mostly but not all, MP3 @ 320K.
It takes the OS about 5 mins to fully read the drive when updated.
So I play the radio or a CD for 5 mins or so. Then I go to the USB stick, menu down to Songs, click OK. I choose a song at random by hand. Let it play. While it's playing I select Shuffle in the media menu, go back to the USB stick and advance cuts a couple times to see that it is shuffling.
All goes well after that until the next time I remove and replace the drive for updating.
Just a little more time.
As I said, I have been using MP3tag w/windows 7 (on my Mac) to tag, title and embed missing artwork.
