Default v60 alternator

Good evening everyone,
Can someone help me with this query, does a 2014 v60 d2 need an 180amp alternator or a 150amp one? I've been told it needs a 180amp.

Can you see the stamped plate with the part number on the alternator in the vehicle? Why not call a dealer with the VIN and ask for the genuine Volvo part number and also ask if there is a part number for the voltage regulator (assuming its available as a separate component for the D2 model).

Thanks, problem is the original one is out and gone, the new one is in (150amp) and the car keeps cutting out, everything else has been checked or replaced, battery, starter, ecu, fuses/relays and earth.

have you put a VOM on it and thrown a load to see what happens (ie headlights, blower, rear defroster, seats)? Can it maintain 13+V? What happens during start up and WOT? I'd really be surprised htat a 150 amp alternator can't keep pace so I'd also measure resistance of the wiring harness from the Alternator to the battery and to the chassis ground. Then again if your model has a voltage sensing circuit to control the alternator output, then there may be an issue with the connection there or the component.
