R sport parts was a division within volvo in the 60's to provide performance parts for racing. These were in the R catalog. My 68 P1800 has a positrac rear end that was an R sport division option, and it had aluminum timing gears marked with a small R. No one I know has ever seen these gears before, but they came with my 68. Unfortunately, they wore out just about as fast as the fiber gears.
The R used to stand for Rallye, as Volvo was quite a rallye powerhouse with the amazon and the 544. I have Rallye gauges in my 69 164.

TIPSP, get this I just found out that the M is not even a true M. It is kind of like what the new R is. It is a design package on his car, the red and M wheels fooled me. I told him to keep quite from now on or I will smoke his "styling package"!

I used Microsoft windows picture manager in the Photo folder of my laptop. Once I opened that, I resized it to 140x140. It is a custom number. That's assuming u have Vista. Whatever program u use, that's the MAX. resize allowable. Once u save that it should allow u to use it as an Avitar!...damn, that was a mouthfull,lol...

You cant exceed either of the two.
EDIT: download an image viewer called FastStone Image Viewer, through cnet.com (download.com).
It is one of the better image viewers I have used, and it has great editing tools. Just keep the AR the same or the image will look distorted.

Is there such a thing as a power programmer for Volvo like there is for most American made cars or do I have to remove the ECU and have it upgraded?

I went here and got the PPC unit. I've read that IPD is also highly recommended.

The question was asked about programers, Evolve doesn't have them. The ECU has to be sent out.

OKEY DOKIE (sp?)
Anyways....Back to the M vs. R topic.
I think both cars are beautiful works of engineering. Both have similar speed capiblities, and both can handle very well.
The Ms are usually lighter, so I would only come to the conclusion that the M will out handle the R. If you could get the RsAWD system to become a fulltime AWD, then I would highly think the R could out acceleratethe M any day.

TIPSP thanks for the input, if there is a better place for the thread let do it. I am new to this forum so I am not sure about a lot of features.
ANYWAY, the BMW guys just bug me with their attitude and I'm German! I agree the M is a great car I would love to be able to drive both one weekend at Infineon raceway and feel the difference my self.

You already started the thread here, so just keep talking here.
Yeah the BMW attitude is jsut like the Merc. attitude. It is annoying.
Now This is problably my favorite M3:
It looks stock .
It is a 98 superchargedM3 sedan (my favorite), modified suspension, exhaust, intake, custom ECU tuning, BBK...etc. It was for sale a couple of years ago, and I wish I had the money to buy it [:@]. It still is the nicest and cleanest M3 I have ever seen.
Now I dont think the R could keep up with this, but if you were to do the simple bolt on mods, and ECU upgrade, You could out run it .
Like these Rs:
They both have ~385hp
