Volvo S60 2.4T oil leak problems
I bought a Volvo2001 a month back. All was going well until I did an oil change. I noticed some oil leaking on the garage floor. I took it back to the garage and they said that it is leaking from the Timing Belt area - the belt needs to be changed and with that the seal (crankshaft?) canged - hence solve the problem.
I got the water pump and timing belt changed. However, I still see some oil leaking. I drove it about125 miles on the highway. when I stopped, the oil was still leaking but not too bad. When I was returning back, after about 40 miles driving @ 78 mph, and then exiting, I saw the warning about -No Oil pressure, Stop the car safely ASAP. I stopped and there was no oil, and the whole area on the passenger side of the engine was wet with oil. Behind the car around the exhaust area, I see droplets of oil on the body. If I add 2 quarts, it only lasts about 10 miles max, and the same problem.
Before taking it back to the mechanic, I did some research - I see potential issues with PVC; oil cap. It is night now, but I am going to check the car in the light tomorrow. I am a little worried. If any person can shed some light, I shall be grateful.
Many Thanks

My mechanic found out that the cam shaft seal was faulty. He has changed that. However, I still see some drops of oil overnight.

We've had our 2001 S60 for 4 years and it has starting leaking oil recently. Our mechanic noticed it and attributed to an extra O-ring that I had left in the filter canister during the last oil change. He addressed it when replacing the struts and other chassis parts recently, but it lost 1 1/2 quarts during the last couple of weeks. Haven't looked at it yet but will keep you posted if I can resolve it or not. Hoping it is a simple canister/fit issue.
yeah i dont think that the cam seals would like that much oil that fast. im thinking either hes didnt change the oring for the oil filter/didnt put one on. or there is still another leak somewhere. my guess is that the crank seal was never leaking he just never checked the crank seal.
Looked at it over the holiday and found it was obviously leaking around the filter canister. All it wanted was to have the o-ring set in the correct position furthest down over the threads where the cover's shoulder mates with the metal receiver. I think it's fixed. Thanks for the posts.
