Default Volvo S60 Cooling Fan Problems-help

Hi- We just purchased a 2006 Volvo S60. Soon after we purchased the vehicle we noticed that the cooling fan ran the whole time that the car was on and the AC did not work. The check engine light is not on. The mechanic originally thought that it was the cooling fan module and replaced it. The fan still ran(AC did not work). He then replaced the sensor and unplugged the battery. The car ran great at first but after driving the car on the highway the cooling fan turned on. Now the fan runs again all the time while the car is on. I don't know what to do and the mechanic is at a loss. Help! Thanks!

Have you checked the coolant level. A lot of times the fan stays on when coolant level is low. Also make sure you have the proper mix. What does your coolant temp gauge say?

The mechanic added more coolant when he replaced the sensor and the fan stopped running for a little while but then turned on again and remains on when the car is on. The temp gauge seems fine. Someone suggested that it might be a sensor on the high side of the air refridg circuit....what do you think? Is that a sensor that is easy to replace? Thanks!

It was the temperature control sensor.

We ended up taking the car to a Volvo dealer. We had the car for 2 weeks before we noticed the problem. The car(unknown to us) had been in a front end accident and there was a hole in the intercooler and a hole in the condenser....$1600 later the car runs great. I hope that your problem is less expensive then ours was.
