Volvo S60 reliability

We've updated the results for the S60, V70 and XC70 to include owner experiences through March 31, 2010. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:
2007: 29, better than average, small sample size
2006: 34, better than average--separating out the R's made a big difference for 2004-2007
2006 R: 145, worse than average, small sample size
2005: 67, about average
2004: 78, about average
2004 R: 155, worse than average, small sample size
2003: 100, about average, small sample size
2002: 207, worse than average
2001: 178, worse than average
We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.
For the 2004, the first is 43, while the latter is 3.
We don't have these for other years yet, though, because they require a larger number of responses.
Everyone who has been helping, thank you, I and other car owners certainly appreciate it. We'll have further updates in August and November. With more participants, we could provide all three stats for all model years. So if you haven't already signed up to participate, please consider doing so.

Just noticed this thread. Obviously, I'm a bit late to the game.
I have 2006 S60 R. Do you still desire data?
The only "significant" (but covered under warranty) was a bizarre series of failures in the fuel pump early on (e.g., 22,000+ miles).
Let me know if that sort of input is still relevant.

Volvo S60 Reliability/Repair Costs Questions?
I'm considering buying a 2003 Volvo S60. From what I have read, the car seems to be pretty reliable, but I want to know what the most common problems with the car are. I also imagine the car will be more expensive to repair than say a toyota or a honda. But I don't know to what extent this is. Can someone please fill me in?

The repairs reported through our survey for the 2003 can be found here:
2003 Volvo S60 Problems and Repair Histories
Glancing through them, I don't see any clear pattern.
I would not expect any Volvo older than 2005 to be especially reliable at this point, though. We've got an average score for the 2003, but worse than average scores for the 2002 and 2004. The difference between the years isn't the number of cars having problems, but the number with multiple problems. For any of these years about 60 percent of cars require at least one repair per year. Of course, this also means that about 40 percent require nothing.
